I started with the Town of Innisfil in 2023 as People & Talent Advocate (a co-op student position). This was my introduction into the municipal world and the community here in Innisfil. I learned a lot as a co-op student and was lucky enough to stay on in a contract opportunity as People & Talent Associate following the end of my co-op term. In the Associate role, I work with employees across virtually every department at the Town and assist with student recruitment, benefits and pension administration, onboarding and offboarding, and much more. I am the first point of contact for questions in the People & Talent realm and work closely with Human Resources representatives from neighbouring municipalities to share information and help each other learn and grow. 

There are several projects and initiatives that I have been a part of over the past 2 years. One that I am particularly proud of is the re-launch of our Performance Management Program. With the help and guidance of my Manager, I assisted in creating and launching our Performance Management Program. Since this program is new, I am continuing to learn and am excited to see how this program evolves.

I also head the Employee Recognition Task Force at the Town. Our purpose is to recognize employees who are hitting service milestones from 5 to 40 years of service. Being a part of this committee is extremely rewarding. Having coworkers from all areas come together to celebrate the hard work of our colleagues and recognize their achievements is invaluable. The committee spends about 6 months planning the event making sure the day is special for everyone involved. 

The Town of Innisfil is an amazing place to work. As my first full-time job, I could not have asked for anything better. Everyone is welcoming, helpful, and willing to answer any questions and there is a true sense of community between and within departments. I have grown so much personally and professionally during my time with the Town with many opportunities to grow and learn. I have been moved by the culture at the Town, coming to work feels like seeing friends and family, and a place where nobody is excluded and everyone has a voice.
