Voting by internet and telephone is a cost-effective, convenient, and secure way to make participation easier for everyone.  

This voting method supports:

• Easier participation: Voters can cast their ballot anytime and from anywhere during the voting period. This flexibility helps accommodate busy schedules, travel, seasonal residents, and voters who may not be available on traditional voting days. 
• Improved accessibility: Internet and telephone voting removes barriers associated with in-person voting. Using familiar devices from home makes voting easier for people with disabilities and anyone who may face mobility or transportation challenges. 
• Strong security: Advanced security features, including secure authentication and encrypted systems, protect voter privacy and ensure ballots are counted exactly as cast. 
• Fast, verified results: Once the voting period ends, results are available within minutes. All election outcomes are official, verified, and independently audited. 

The Town's vendor—chosen through a competitive procurement process—is Intelivote.

Intelivote is a Canadian-owned and operated company, and has successfully delivered more than 320 elections across Ontario municipalities since 2006. The vendor maintains a hosted data centre environment in Halifax and is a national leader in delivering digital elections.

All election outcomes are official, verified, and independently audited. 

All eligible electors on the official voters list will receive a Voter Information Letter by mail in October. This letter will include how to access the voting system and a secure individual PIN. You will need the PIN to vote online or by telephone. 

If you do not receive the Voter Information Letter, please visit an Election Service Centre for assistance. Make sure to bring appropriate identification.

You may be eligible to vote in Innisfil under a variety of circumstances.

• Resident elector: Your primary lodging is located in the Town of Innisfil. This situation applies to most eligible electors. 
• Non-resident elector: Your primary lodging is located in another municipality, but you own or rent property in the Town of Innisfil.
• Spouse of non-resident elector: Your spouse owns property in the Town of Innisfil. 
• Person without housing: You do not have a permanent residence, but Innisfil is the place where you most frequently return to sleep or eat, and you consider that place your residence.
  • To qualify to be added to the voters list, you must submit an application and an affidavit to the Clerk 
  • Elections Ontario is not required to include a person without housing's name on the Preliminary List of Electors
• Trailer Owner in Campground: You are considered a tenant and can vote in Innisfil if you will be using the land on Voting Day, or for a period of six or more weeks in 2026 under a timeshare contract

The following cannot vote:

• A person who is serving a sentence of imprisonment in a penal or correctional institution
• A corporation
• A person acting as executor or trustee or in any other representative capacity, except as a voting proxy in accordance with section 44 of the Municipal Elections Act
• A person who was convicted of the corrupt practice described in subsection 90(3), if Voting Day in the current election is less than five years after Voting Day in the election in respect of which they were convicted
