The Town of Innisfil is a community rich in history and cultural heritage. We are committed to conserving and protecting what we've inherited from the past—for the benefit of the present and the future.
Our Land Acknowledgement statement recognizes the First Nations on whose traditional territories we reside and offers gratitude for Indigenous peoples, both past and present, and their contributions to our communities.
Innisfil Heritage Advisory Committee
The Innisfil Heritage Advisory Committee provides advice and recommendations to Council on local heritage matters relating to the Ontario Heritage Act, and organizes events and programs to promote heritage conservation locally.
Innisfil Heritage Property Awards
Each year, the Innisfil Heritage Advisory Committee accepts nominations from residents for the Innisfil Heritage Awards. The awards present an opportunity to strengthen a sense of community pride through a connection with our past. They recognize local property owners, businesses or tenants for their efforts in the preservation, restoration and enhancement of heritage properties in Innisfil.
Heritage Sign Project
Our heritage signs identify and depict some of the historical European settlements within Innisfil. They commemorate important historical events, significant sites, and individuals throughout the burgeoning cottage development along the Lake Simcoe shoreline that later became Innisfil.
