Transit Master Plan

Topic
Transportation

The Town of Innisfil's Transit Master Plan outlines a 10-year strategy for delivering our municipal public transit service, Innisfil Transit. This plan guides the development of Innisfil Transit until the year 2035 and ensures we can continue to provide a fair, equitable, and sustainable transit service that grows along with our town.

Plan details

This plan is designed to maximize community benefit while maintaining fiscal responsibility, increasing overall transit investment in response to community feedback, community growth, and policy goals.

Community benefits include:

  • More affordable and accessible transportation
  • Greater equity for youth, families, and marginalized groups
  • Environmental, safety, and health improvements from reduced car dependency and enhanced mobility
  • A more cost-effective transportation system that supports economic development

Implementing the plan

The TMP outlines a phased approach to introducing new services to Innisfil and implementing service change. Each phase of the plan is triggered by changes to ridership and  developmental milestones, including:

  • Introduction of Simcoe LINX Route 7
  • An operational Innisfil GO Station
  • Population growth in Alcona

Community engagement

Community members were consulted during the development of the TMP through two rounds of community engagement. A summary of this work can be found on the TMP's project page on Get Involved Innisfil.

The first round focused on understanding the current state and needs of Innisfil Transit and included:

  • A community survey
  • Three public open houses
  • Pop-up engagement opportunities at Teen Nights and Mobile Seniors Active Living Centre sessions

The second round focused on receiving community feedback between four possible options for the future of Innisfil Transit and included:

  • A community survey
  • A business-focused survey
  • Three public open houses
