The Town of Innisfil worked with Hemson Consulting to develop a Long-Range Financial Plan (LRFP). The plan assesses the Town's financial health and supports our continued efforts toward long-term fiscal sustainability.

The LRFP is made up of two parts:
- Long-Range Financial Plan Report – Identifies financial history, policy recommendations, risks and challenges, measurable targets and objectives, and key model findings.
- Long-Range Financial Planning Model – A tool for staff to:
- Assess the Town's current financial position and forecast the future over the next 10 to 20 years
- Identify overall capital and operating needs
- Assist in the annual budgeting process
- Undertake sensitivity testing to understand the impact of major new initiatives, changes or scenarios
- Provide information and data for ongoing updates to the LRFP
Key findings
The report found:
Innisfil is in a healthy financial position. However, like most municipalities across the country, the Town has been facing increasing financial pressures associated with rising costs, aging infrastructure, and limited tools available to fund both growth and non-growth-related projects. Despite these challenges and pressures, the Town has historically been fiscally efficient by controlling tax increases and maintaining low debt levels.
- The Town is in a good fiscal position with low debt levels, but challenges remain
- Projected capital needs total $2.3 billion to 2046
- Projected tax increases are driven by the need to meet the demands of growth and maintain assets in a state of good repair
- Debt financing will be required to undertake capital needs
- Opportunities to revise fiscal framework to manage needs over the long-term
