In an effort to better serve our community with an affordable and sustainable public transit system that aligns with our Transit Master Plan, Innisfil Transit is changing to a distance-based pricing structure on July 1, 2026.
We encourage you to keep reading to familiarize yourself with the upcoming changes. We recommend that you access your Multi-person Voucher now so that you can take group trips as soon as the changes take place.
Many of the features of our Innisfil Transit service will remain the same, including the flexibility to travel all across town, a convenient door-to-door service, and the option to call for a ride 24/7.
Here are some of the key changes coming to Innisfil Transit that you can expect starting July 1:
- We will subsidize up to $10 of your Uber trip anywhere in Innisfil or to/from Barrie South GO Station or Bradford GO Station
- The monthly trip-cap is increasing from 30 to 50 subsidized trips per month
- Groups of two to four passengers can take subsidized trips with the "UberX" trip option using our Multi-passenger Voucher
- Single riders can book a single-passenger ride with the "Innisfil Transit" trip option, and the subsidy will apply automatically—no need to download a separate voucher
- Subsidized trips are initiated with a minimum flat fee
- We will be retiring the use of the Transit Hubs (except for participants of the Families with Multiple Youths Pilot)
Please note that these changes may affect the overall cost of your trip. In some cases, your expected fare may increase and, in others, it may decrease. If you have any questions, you may reach out to our Customer Service team at 705-436-3710 or at inquiry@innisfil.ca.

Using Innisfil Transit
Innisfil Transit operates through Uber to offer subsidized rates based on distance travelled. When you book an eligible trip, the Town will cover up to $10 of your trip fare for up to 50 trips per month.
Eligible trips:
- Are booked through the Uber app
- Travel anywhere within Innisfil and to/from the Barrie South GO Station or Bradford GO Station
- One to four passengers (trips for two to four passengers require the use of a voucher)
- Passenger pays a minimal flat fee to initiate the trip
We are running a Teen Transit Pilot so that 13 to 17-year-olds with an Uber Teen account can enjoy Innisfil Transit discounts for up to 10 trips per month. The pilot will run until December 31, 2026 and will use a voucher. Please read the Teen Transit Pilot section on this webpage for more information.
Instructions
If you are booking a trip for a single passenger (one person), you will need to book an "Innisfil Transit" trip on the Uber app. Please note:
- A minimum flat fee of $3.25 will be automatically applied to your trip
- The Town will cover the remainder of your trip fare up to $10
- If your total trip fare is more than the sum of the flat fee plus the $10 Town subsidy (e.g., $13.25), you will automatically be charged the remainder to the payment method on your Uber app
- Your Innisfil Transit trip may be "pooled", which means the vehicle will be shared with other riders who are travelling in the same direction. If your ride is pooled, expect additional pick-ups and drop-offs along your trip
If you are booking a trip for two to four passengers, you will need to book an UberX trip on the Uber app and use the "Multi-passenger Voucher".
Once the Multi-passenger Voucher is on your account, you will have access to two vouchers at a time, up to a total of 50 subsidized trips per month (cumulative, single-passenger and multi-passenger trips).
Please note:
- A minimum flat fee will be automatically applied to your trip. The minimum flat fee for UberX trips is $6.50, regardless of the number of passengers
- The Town will cover the remainder of your trip fare up to $10
- If your total trip fare is more than the sum of the flat fee plus the $10 Town subsidy (e.g., $16.50), you will automatically be charged the remainder to the payment method on your Uber app
- Multi-passenger Vouchers are released two at a time. They do not need to be used on the same day
- Once you use a pair of vouchers, the next set will be automatically added to your account
- Vouchers "reload" once per day
- If you reach your 50-trip monthly cap, you will have to wait until the first of the following month for your voucher to be available once again
Vouchers will expire at the end of the calendar year. Please remember to check your vouchers' expiration date and request new ones, as needed.
Teen Transit Pilot
We're running a pilot to test teen use of Innisfil Transit. Until December 31, 2026, teens with an Uber Teen account can book up to 10 UberX trips using the "Teen Transit Voucher" and enjoy the same distance-based transit rates as our Innisfil Transit program.
The Teen Transit Voucher will be automatically added to all teen accounts active as of June 30, 2026. If you did not receive the voucher or you recently activated your teen account, you can follow these instructions to participate in the pilot:
To participate:
- Apply for the voucher online
- Download the voucher onto your Family Profile's Uber wallet once you receive the download link
- Book your first teen trip!
- A minimum flat fee of $3.25 will be automatically applied to the trips
- The Town will cover the remainder of the trip fare up to $10
- If the total trip fare is more than the sum of the flat fee plus the $10 Town subsidy (e.g., $13.25), the remainder will be automatically charged to the payment methods on the Family Profile
- Multiple passengers are allowed on the trip, as long as they are teens who are at least 13 years old and have approval from their legal guardian or parent to ride with Uber
- Teens can be added to their legal guardian or parent’s Uber Family profile within the app to get started. Only teens with an approved teen account are allowed to request a trip with Uber
- To ensure that teens are getting into the right car with the right driver, every trip can only start when drivers enter the correct PIN that teens provide them from their app before they enter the car
- Parents and guardians will be able to follow the trip and get updates in their app
Visit Uber's website for frequently asked questions about teen trips.
Every teen trip will have mandatory safety features automatically enabled, including PIN verification, live trip tracking, unexpected event alerts, and access to Uber’s Safety Line.
Real-time notifications
For extra peace of mind, a parent or guardian can track their teen’s live location from start to finish. They’ll get a message when their teen requests a ride, when they get picked up, while they’re on the way, and when they get dropped off.
PIN verification: Verify my ride
Before a teen gets in the car, they have to give their driver a unique PIN. Drivers are unable to start a trip until they enter the correct code into the Driver app. This will help the teen make sure they get into the right car. Learn more about PIN verification.
Reporting safety incidents
In an emergency, teens can use the in-app Emergency Button to contact 911.
After the trip, the teen can report a safety incident through the app by selecting the trip in their trip history and tapping Help, then Report Safety Issue or contacting Uber’s Safety Incident Reporting Line.
Here are some other details about teen trips:
- Every teen trip will be charged to the default payment method selected under the legal guardian or parent’s Family profile
- Teens can only ride alone or with other teens who are at least 13 years old and have approval from their legal guardian or parent to ride with Uber
- Every teen trip will have a no-front-seat policy—so teens will be advised to sit in the back seat and remember to buckle up
Every Innisfil Transit experience should be safe, respectful, and positive. Guardians, teens, and drivers should all follow Uber’s Community Guidelines to help everyone have a great trip.
Accessibility and fare support
If you need a wheelchair accessible vehicle, you can call Barrie-Innisfil Taxi at 705-721-7777 or use the Barrie-Innisfil taxi mobile app. Please give a minimum of 24 hours of notice—additional notice if possible—and indicate you are booking for "Innisfil Transit" to get the same Innisfil Transit services and fares.
Personal Support Workers (PSW) are not counted as additional passengers while working. If you require a PSW to accompany you, please contact our Customer Service department at 705-436-3710 or inquiry@innisfil.ca to ensure your Innisfil Transit fare is being charged accordingly.
Riders who do not have an Uber account or need support booking a ride can use GoGoGrandparent. To access this service, you need to:
- Call 1-855-464-6872
- Provide your payment information (credit card or Uber gift card)
Once you're registered, you can book a ride using the automated phone service or speak to a representative.
If the cost of Innisfil Transit is a financial barrier, you may be eligible for our Fair Transit Program. This program supports low-income residents with access to transit by providing a 50% discount on all rides to eligible passengers. You can find the eligibility requirements within the Fair Transit Program Application.
Apply for the Fair Transit Program
Once you're enrolled in the program, you'll also get two free return trips to the Innisfil Food Bank each month.
Frequently asked questions
Try closing the app first (if possible, quit the app completely rather than keeping it running in the background). If it still doesn't work when you reopen it, it might be an older version of the app. Please check for any updates from your phone’s App Store, or you may need to delete and then reinstall the Uber app.
If your “general use voucher” (the automatic voucher applied to all accounts within our program area to facilitate the single-passenger trip subsidy), Multi-passenger Voucher, or Teen Transit Voucher did not apply to an eligible trip, or you were charged an incorrect rate by Uber while using Innisfil Transit, please report this in the Uber app. If you don't get a resolution within three to five business days, then complete the Fare Refund Request form.
Please note: The subsidy for single-passenger trips is applied through a “general use” voucher that is automatically available to all Uber accounts within our program area. If you are experiencing an issue with this voucher.
Innisfil Transit uses a distance-based fare structure. That means that the cost of your trip is based on how far you travel. The cost of your overall trip is set by the Uber app, and the Town subsidizes up to $10 dollars of your overall trip after an initial flat fee for your trip type:
- Single-passenger trips: of $3.25
- Multi-passenger trips (two to four people): $6.50
For example, if you are a single passenger booking an Innisfil Transit trip that costs a total of $11.70, you pay your trip's flat fee of $3.25, and the Town will cover the rest ($8.45) as it is within the $10 subsidy maximum. However, if your trip costs $16.35, the overall cost is higher than the sum of your flat fee and the Town's subsidy ($13.25), so you are responsible for the remaining cost as well as the minimum flat fee (a total of $6.35).
Innisfil Transit covers trips anywhere within Innisfil's geographic borders and trips that start or end at the Barrie South GO Station (833 Yonge St, Barrie) or the Bradford GO Station (300 Holland Street East, Bradford).
Yes! We've got you covered. We've partnered with GoGoGrandparent to allow you to book rides with Innisfil Transit through a toll-free phone number. To access this service, you need to:
- Call 1-855-464-6872
- Provide your payment information (credit card or Uber gift card)
Once you're registered, you can book a ride using the automated phone service or speak to a representative.
If you’re looking for a Multi-passenger Voucher that allows you to book a discounted Uber trip for two to four people, you access the voucher by filling in the Multi-person Voucher Request form, and the voucher will be automatically added to your Uber Wallet.
If you're looking for a Teen Transit Voucher that allows teens to book up to 10 discounted trips a month, you need to request a voucher using the Teen Transit Voucher Request form.
If you're taking a subsidized Innisfil Transit trip as a single rider, you do not need to manually access a voucher. Uber will automatically load a "general use voucher" to your account when you are within the areas covered by our system (all of Innisfil, Barrie South GO Station, and Bradford GO Station).
The pilot has been extended until December 31, 2026 for existing participants. If you were already a part of our Multiple Youth-Based Voucher Pilot and would like to continue using this service, the voucher will remain active until December 31. We are not accepting any new applicants to this program.

Only eligible trips are subsidized. Here are some of the most common reasons why a trip may not be eligible for a discounted rate:
- You’ve reached your monthly limit of subsidized trips per month (10 for teens, 50 for everyone else)
- Your trip is not within our boundary area:
- Trips that start and end in Innisfil
- Trips between an Innisfil location and Barrie South GO Station (either way)
- Trips between an Innisfil location and Bradford Go Station (either way)
- You are requesting a single-passenger trip, but did not select the “Innisfil Transit” trip option
- You are requesting a multi-passenger trip, but did not select the “UberX” option
- You are requesting a multi-passenger trip, but do not have a Multi-passenger Voucher on your account
If none of these apply to you, please report this issue to Uber through the in-app support or to our Customer Service team.
