My journey with the Town of Innisfil began in 2014 when I joined the organization as the Executive Assistant to the Deputy CAO/Director of Legal and Clerks Services, and shortly thereafter transitioned to the role of Executive Assistant for the CAO, Mayor, and Council. In my current role as Chief of Staff for the Mayor and CAO's Office, I ensure the Executive Office for both the CAO and Mayor/Council operates efficiently. As a member of the Town’s Steering Group, I serve as the primary strategic advisor to the CAO and Mayor, and manage key relationships, offer strategic advice, and assist with solving organizational challenges. I engage with both internal and external stakeholders on a variety of files and initiatives, including various government offices, municipal associations, consultants, and community groups.
Throughout my time with the Town, I’ve had the opportunity to lend my strategic insights to a variety of projects. Working closely with Lynn Dollin during her tenure as AMO President was an amazing learning experience and deepened my understanding of intergovernmental relations. I've also participated in exciting projects like launching our partnership with Uber, constructing the Rizzardo Centre, and establishing the Innisfil Community Foundation.
The Mayor’s Annual Golf Tournament is special to me as it underscores the Town’s commitment to funding the foundation and supporting our community groups and nonprofits. We continuously strive to surpass our fundraising targets each year. Each Council term, I am involved in election support, including council onboarding. As council members are elected and re-elected, I enjoy collaborating with them to discuss their priorities and finding ways to engage with their wards and the broader community through initiatives like Neighbourhood Nights, Winter Weekend events, the Mayor’s Business Breakfast, and the annual Council Community Breakfast. I am also actively involved in refreshing our strategic plan with each council term and participating in the strategic planning process and updates.
Innisfil stands out for its supportive people and flexible work environment. The support and mentorship experienced here isn’t something I have experienced in other workplaces. I like the ability to participate on various projects and connect with individuals across the organization. I have found the people to be extremely supportive in Innisfil, and that everyone genuinely wants you to succeed. I believe our flexible work policies provide staff with a unique opportunity for a healthy work-life balance. The connections I’ve made at Innisfil have led to deep friendships. I recall one committee from a few years ago where the members bonded so well that we continue to check in on each other and regularly connect as a group to catch up both professionally and personally, even though some of those members have moved on to other opportunities.
