Innisfil, ON – The Town of Innisfil is inviting community members to help shape the next phase of its Community Planning Permit System (CPPS) as work begins to expand the framework across the entire municipality.
Following approval of the CPPS By-law for Alcona and Innisfil’s shoreline area last year, the Town has prepared a draft town-wide CPPS By-law that would apply to most remaining areas of the community. The CPPS regulates the use of land, buildings, and structures in Innisfil, supporting the policies and vision set out in the Town’s Official Plan.
Individuals can share their input at two public engagement events:
- Drop-In Open House
Tuesday, June 2, between 5 and 7 p.m.
Innisfil Town Hall, 2101 Innisfil Beach Road - Public Meeting
Wednesday, June 10, 6:30 p.m.

“These sessions are a great chance for residents to share their thoughts on how growth and development should be managed in Innisfil,” says Mayor Lynn Dollin. “The Community Planning Permit System makes the planning approval process clearer and more efficient by combining several separate steps into one coordinated review process. As we expand this approach town-wide, public input is important to make sure we create a system that reflects what residents want to see for their community.”
The CPPS will eventually replace the Town’s current Zoning By-law and allow zoning adjustments, minor variances, and site plan approvals to be reviewed through a single application process rather than multiple separate applications.
At the June 2 open house, attendees can drop in to learn about the draft town-wide CPPS, ask questions, and connect with the project team. During the June 10 public meeting, Town staff will present the draft by-law to Council, and residents can provide feedback directly by attending in person, registering to speak virtually, or submitting written comments in advance.
Feedback collected during both sessions will help refine the by-law before it is brought forward to Innisfil Council for future consideration and adoption.
Areas not included in the proposed town-wide CPPS include lands regulated by the Friday Harbour Zoning By-law, federally regulated lands such as the Cookstown airport, and lands subject to a Ministerial Zoning Order, including The Orbit.
