TOWN INVITES RESIDENTS TO GET INTO THE ZONE

Zoning By-law Open House/Workshops Coming Up

Innisfil, ON (January 30, 2012) - The Town of Innisfil is in the process of reviewing and updating its Comprehensive Zoning By-law, and has retained MMM Group Limited to assist in this study.  As the Zoning By-law applies to all lands in Innisfil, the Town’s Planning Department is inviting all residents and stakeholders to participate in any or all of the three (3) open house style workshops during the week of February 13, 2012.

“This first series of open house/workshops will give Innisfil residents the chance to learn more about the impact of Innisfil’s Official Plan on zoning by-laws relating to all areas in the Town. We want the community to become informed and involved, in an open house environment, where information and ideas can be exchanged.” said Don Eastwood, Director of Development.

The open houses will begin with an opportunity to review the display boards and speak with Town staff and the consultants. There will be a formal presentation followed by small breakout groups for discussion. Then, the facilitator will bring the groups back together for the wrap-up and question and answer period. For more information please visit the Town’s website at www.innisfil.ca.

To register for the open house/workshops contact Christine Ayres, Senior Administrative Assistant, (705) 436-3740 ext 1502, or email planning&building@innisfil.ca.

Zoning By-law Background

The Zoning By-law provides detailed regulations regarding how land may be used, where and how buildings may be built (lot size requirements, setbacks, heights, etc), among other matters.  The updated Zoning By-law will also support the Town’s new Official Plan by looking at various categories of land uses within neighbourhoods, settlements, employment lands, agriculture/rural areas, and shoreline residential locations. The new Zoning by-law will complement the Town’s collective efforts in meeting the Inspiring Innisfil 2020 vision– to make Innisfil the place to be by 2020.
