Council of the Town of Innisfil Action 2010 Plan

As your Council begins its 2007-2010 term, we are committed to recognizing the challenges facing Innisfil as a growing community, to seizing our opportunities, and to working openly and responsibly with our residents.

 

We want you to know what to expect from us. In turn, we hope for your participation and your support at this all-important time in Innisfil’s development.

 

"Action 2010" sets out Council’s key priorities for the term, the workable strategies we intend to follow, and what specifically we intend to achieve by 2010.

 

Setting the stage for more local jobs
By 2010, the Town will have:

  • Completed the Environmental Assessment and Official Plan policies to facilitate the development of the Innisfil Heights/Hwy 400 Business area
  • Adopted Core Area development strategies for Lefroy and Alcona
  • Developed procedures to monitor and measure the Town’s jobs-to-residents balance
  • Improved the jobs-to-residents balance of 2010 committed development compared to the balance on 2006 committed development

 

Protecting and Improving Water Quality
By 2010, the Town will have:

  • Witnessed further improvement in the water quality measures monitored by the Conservation Authorities

 

Matching our infrastructure to the needs of our growing community
By 2010, the Town will have:

  • Updated our Roads Needs Study, presented it to the public and incorporated it into our capital forecast
  • Maintained our average annual spending on hard-surfacing gravel roads
  • Developed a long-term strategy for water/wastewater solutions for existing unserviced areas and planned growth
  • Created and had a report back from a task force to look into feasible public transit options for the future

 

Providing Responsive Government and Fostering the Identity of Innisfil
By 2010, the Town will have:

  • Developed customer service standards and procedures to monitor our customer service performance
  • Developed new ways to communicate with residents
  • Reported annually on our "Action 2010" progress
  • Updated our Innisfil marketing package.
  • Completed the Organizational Renewal initiative for Town staff
  • Instituted procedures to measure the value received from staff training
  • Reinforced the identity of Innisfil in any discussions with the Province, the County and the City of Barrie

 

Responsible Financial Management
By 2010, the Town will have:

  • Identified a valid group of rapidly growing municipalities for the purposes of financial     comparisons and measures
  • Ensured that average household property taxes as a % of average household income     remain within the range of the comparison municipalities
  • Avoided tax "spikes"
  • Adopted a multi-year capital expenditures and financing forecast
  • Set funds aside into reserves for long-term asset repair and replacement
  • Complied with Provincial guidelines for the management of long-term debt
  • Maintained the Town’s credit rating with recognized bond-rating agencies
