Current Status

The plan for the Big Bay Point Resort was first proposed in 2002, and was approved by the Ontario Municipal Board in December 2007, with the support of the Town of Innisfil, the County of Simcoe, the Lake Simcoe Region Conservation Authority and the Province.

There are still several approvals required before the resort can be constructed. These include final plan of subdivision approval, condominium approval, and site plan approval. In advance of these approvals, however, Innisfil Council has granted permission for initial site preparation work to begin on the site through a Pre-Development Agreement with the developer. This includes tree clearing, grading, excavation of the marina basin, construction of a haul road though the EPA along the route of the public road, and the stripping and shaping of the golf course. The Pre-Development Agreement will remain in effect until a Subdivision Agreement is in place.

Copies of all approvals, and supporting plans, technical studies and reports are posted in the Key Documents section of the site.

Detailed updates on the status of construction, and public notices will be posted in the What’s New section of the site.
