Anti-Icing Information

Ever wonder why a tank truck is driving on our roads in the winter spraying liquid?

Well it is actually the Town’s anti-icing truck.

Below are some quick facts on what the anti-ice truck is used for:

• Application of various winter control liquids that are corrosion resistant or contain corrosion inhibitors.

• Application of a protective layer to the roads.

• Used to prevent ice and snow from adhering (bonding) to the pavement.

• Allows easier snow removal by our plows.

• Brine can be used in advance of a snowstorm arriving or to treat issues such as black ice etc in a proactive approach.

• Anti-icing when applied properly can reduce the amount of salt and abrasives required during winter operations therefore reducing cost.
