TOWN OF INNISFIL
GOLF HAVEN WATER SUPPLY
MUNICIPAL CLASS ENVIRONMENTAL ASSESSMENT
NOTICE OF PUBLIC INFORMATION CENTRE
The Golf Haven Municipal Water Supply System, in the Community of Gilford, currently consists of two wells, an in-ground
reservoir, and a pump station, which combined are incapable of supplying sufficient capacity for fire protection and domestic
flows to the existing customers. In addition, the concentration of trihalomethanes (THMs) in the treated water has consistently
exceeded the Ontario Drinking Water Quality Standard Maximum Acceptable Concentration.
Therefore, in 2006, the Town of Innisfil retained the Ainley Group to conduct a Schedule ‘B’ Municipal Class Environmental
Assessment (Class EA) to identify and assess alternative options for providing a potable water source that would be capable
of meeting customer demands and fire protection requirements as well as water quality parameters that conform to the
Ontario Drinking Water Legislation. The service area that was considered is illustrated in the key map below.
On February 13th, 2007 a Public Information Centre (PIC) was held at the Gilford Community Hall to present a number of
alternatives to the public and to provide an opportunity for comment. As a result of comments received following the PIC, it
was determined that the Town needed to further investigate the alternative that involved switching the existing Golf Haven
Water Supply customers to the Alcona Lakeshore Water system and utilizing the Bradford West Gwillimbury Reservoir,
located on the 10th Side Road near the 11th Line, to sustain operating pressures and to provide fire flows in Gilford.
In July of 2007, Town of Innisfil Council passed Resolution CW-235.07 requesting that the Town of Bradford West
Gwillimbury consider dedicating water storage capacity in their reservoir to supply the existing customers of the Golf Haven
Water Supply System. After further discussions and meetings, confirmation has now been received from the Town of
Bradford West Gwillimbury that they are willing to provide the required storage capacity in their reservoir. Therefore, the
Town of Innisfil is now continuing the Class EA process and have adopted a revised Recommended Solution that would
involve switching the existing Golf Haven Water Supply customers to the Alcona Lakeshore Water system and utilizing the
Bradford West Gwillimbury reservoir, with no changes to the Goldcrest Water Supply System.
As public consultation is a key component of this Class EA, a Public Information Centre has been scheduled, as follows, to
allow all interested parties an opportunity to review this new information and provide comment:
DATE: Tuesday, December 1st, 2009
TIME: 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm
LOCATION: Community Rooms
Town Hall
2101 Innisfil Beach Road
Innisfil, ON
Following the Public Information Centre, comments are invited for incorporation into this planning process and will be received
until December 15th, 2009. With the exception of personal information, all comments will become part of the public record.
