Innisfil's Growth Management Strategy |
| The County of Simcoe Official Plan encourages each municipality to undertake a Growth
Management Study to develop long-term growth projections. The current Town of Innisfil
Official Plan sets out a population target of 45,200 by 2011. There are a number of
development applications pending before the Town that could significantly increase that target.
The Town of Innisfil has therefore initiated a Growth Management Strategy to determine the
population and employment growth that could be anticipated in the Town by 2025 and the land
area necessary to accommodate that growth. |
The Growth Management Strategy will be based on the following principles: |
The level of growth should reflect what can reasonably be attracted and accommodated
Creation of a strong, self-sufficient, live-work community
Employment growth opportunities must be achieved in concert with population growth
Location of growth areas need to contribute to a strong Innisfil identity
Recognize how residents want their community to grow and evolve
Protect the best elements of the rural character and natural features
Create settlements that are diverse, compact, walkable, pedestrian communities |
The Town of Innisfil’s key objective is to undertake a credible, objective and thorough
evaluation of each potential growth option with an eye towards meeting the future needs of the
population of the area. |
